Many faithful Harry Potter fans began gathering early at the Cinemark Theater in the Greeley Mall on Thursday in anticipation of the premier of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part two”. This movie is the last of the Harry Potter film series, which started with “Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone” back in 2001. The crowd consisted mainly of young devoted fans ages 14-20 something, many dressed up as their favorite character from the series, who had grown up along with the Harry Potter’s characters. The Cinemark Theater was very well prepared to face the large crowd that was waiting for approximately three hours to watch the show and the Greeley Mall Security was in all corners ready to react to any given emergency. The environment felt safe and ordered during the wait and the show.
Reactions from fans ranged from excitement to sadness; “Yeah we are very excited”, “Emotional, I think I might tear up”, “I have been a fan since eighth grade and now I’m a senior in high school”. Extreme fans were dressed with anything they could find at home, even using a table cloth as a wizard’s cape and a wooden stick as a magic wand. Others went over the top wearing Mexican sombreros or colorful mismatching outfits. Regardless of what they were wearing, all the spectators could speak of was Harry Potter and what the last movie could have in store.
Patrons at the theatre for other movies were surprised by the size of the crowd gathered in a small city such asGreeleyfor a movie premier. Rachel Best a local fromGreeleyentered the theater and her expression was of shock –literally. Best stated, “I am surprised, I mean I like Harry Potter but I am not an extreme fanatic. It is very surprising to see many people gather in such a small town for an event like this”.
After the show some fans did seem to have a few tears. Most fans were very pleased with the final movie and recommend it
