“Gays” still pressing for govt. approval

by Peter Grady –

An attorney says a bill introduced in Congress that would provide same gender pairs Social Security benefits violates the spirit and intent of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

DOMA which passed with wide bi-partisan support and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton defined marriage as being solely between a man and a woman for purposes of federal benefits.

Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-California) is sponsoring the “Social Security Equality Act of 2012,” which has 90 co-sponsors in the House. According to Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel Action, the measure is another attempt by people in high positions to “put the official government stamp of approval on sin.”

Barber says the bill is a blatant attempt to circumvent The Defense of Marriage Act and if it were to pass it would violate the spirit and possibly the letter of DOMA.

The Obama administration has aggressively worked to nullify the bill. While Obama has called on Congress to repeal the legislation, he has taken his own steps to effectively accomplish the same thing.

The Department of Justice has directed its attorneys to refuse to defend the law in court which forced Congress to defend the law. However the administration has since went even farther, actively arguing in court that the law should be overturned on constitutional grounds. Traditionally the DOJ defends federal laws that have been passed by Congress and signed by the president.

Ironically, Obama unwittingly made the case for upholding DOMA  shortly after the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on ObamaCare, which Nancy Pelosi called the president’s “crown jewel.”

The president said the court should uphold a law that passed with large bi-partisan support. While he was referring to ObamaCare, it was passed strictly on party line votes while DOMA was passed with wide bi-partisan support. Using the president’s own statements the Supreme Court has a responsibility to uphold DOMA.

I love how “gays” is in quotation marks, as if it’s a fabricated word…something that doesn’t exist. Excuse me, but um, I exist. I’m a productive member of society. I pay taxes, work hard, and have a job in an industry that is strongly propping up the U.S. economy in a time when many jobs and industries have disappeared.

My tax dollars are being used to defend a bill that denies me rights, impinges on my pursuit of happiness, and dictates whom I should or should not spend my life with.

I exist. And I would never once consider taking away the privileges afforded to you by your heterosexual marriages. Why would I be so cruel? I would not deny you the right to be by your spouse’s side if he or she was in a hospital with an illness. I wouldn’t require you to file your taxes separately, deny you health insurance, prohibit the right to adopt your spouse’s children, or deride you for your sorrow and deny you the right to mourn the loss of your spouse should that unfortunate event happen.

These are just a few of the rights my future wife and I can’t currently enjoy. But most of all, we are made to feel inhuman by these kinds of attitudes. If you truly respect life, are pro-life, and value all human life, even before birth, why can’t you respect the lives of human who are already on this earth, as well? Why can’t you respect and value all life? It’s frustrating to hear so much anger day after day when I don’t even understand why my happiness (the happiness between two consenting adults who are productive and upstanding members of society) should cause you so much anger to begin with.

I don’t remember God commanding anyone to hate, to persecute, or to kill. In fact, I’m pretty sure it was the opposite.

    God made me.

    God doesn’t make mistakes.

    He loves me.

And I’m sure he loves you, too. :)

Be careful what you wish for. Not like gays allowed to get married never get divorced. Then there’s all that splitting everything 50/50. I can see where it would help part of the economy with weddings etc. and then the divorce lawyers.

Now if we could just get the American people to wake up to the new laws destroying our country and put as much passion into stopping these out of control treasonous laws, we might get our country well and then push for rights that only some want.

I am more concerned about our air, water and foods being turned into poisons and laws to destroy us.

Do we even need the Federal govt anymore? What have they done for any of us lately? Good that is. I see nothing but b.s.
