Democrats who recently voted against a bill that would have outlawed abortions based on a child’s sex or race claimed the legislation was unnecessary, however an undercover video reveals that there are abortion clinics that will actually break the law to provide such procedures.
Live Action, which conducts undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics has released the third in a series of videos exposing how abortion clinics willingly participate in helping women obtain sex-selective abortions.
The latest video involves two National Abortion Federation affiliated Clinics in Arizona, who helped a woman obtain an abortion of her baby girl simply because she wants a boy.
Arizona is one of only four states that bans sex-selective abortions. The other states are Oklahoma, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
The Arizona statute says it is a class 3 felony to “perform an abortion knowing that the abortion is sought based on the sex of the child, or to solicit or accept monies to finance a sex-selection abortion.”
The footage at Camelback Family Planning in Phoenix and the Tucson’s Women’s Center showed NAF members promising to ignore the law and even went so far as to coach a woman on how to lie on official paperwork to conceal the illegal abortion.
At the Tucson clinic, Francisco, a surgical assistant tells the woman that they could not perform the abortion based on sex saying, “we could lose our license,” and that “Arizona is just crazy about abortions.” But he then goes on to tell the woman they will help her cover up the illegal sex-selective abortion. “I’ll just forget about it,” he says, “But just be sure not to mention it” to the abortion doctor–“Don’t even mention it to him.”
A similar event occurred at the Phoenix clinic where after the woman mentioned she wanted to abort the child because it is a girl, the worker named Barb interrupted her and said, “Don’t tell us that, because we don’t want to know.” Referring to the clinic’s abortion doctor, Gabrielle Goodrick, Barb says, “You can tell her, she’s gonna tell you the same thing, just: Don’t let it be down! She’s really good about that. You’ll like that about her.”
She also told the woman it was a good thing that she had lied on the form in order to obtain the abortion. When asked if she had seen this before, the staff member, who has worked in the abortion industry for 35 years responded, “Oh yes, it’s none of anybody else’s business.”
Live Action has said they are sending the full footage to Arizona Attorney General, Tom Home and local law enforcement officials.
The first two videos involved Planned Parenthood clinics. One clinic was in Austin, Texas and the other was at the New York Margaret Sanger clinic, named for the eugenicist who founded the organization.
Planned Parenthood defended the events in the first video by saying that while they opposed abortions based on gender, nevertheless “no Planned Parenthood clinic will deny a woman an abortion based on her reasons for wanting one.”
Live Action maintains that the videos are unedited copies, however Planned Parenthood responds to each video by calling them hoaxes and claims they are doctored and manufactured.
