Why would our President brag on his unproductive high school years?

by Carol Clemans –

In a recent interview, President Obama described his high school years. He bragged that he took drugs enthusiastically.  From the way he described those years, he was a non-productive student.  As I heard his words, it made me feel shame for him.  What parent would brag about his drinking, drugging, (that probably led to promiscuity) and lack of responsibility to his education to the whole world?

It makes me wonder why his college records have been kept secret.  If he was such a poor student in high school, what made the turn around in college or was there a turn around in college?  (Food for thought.)

There are many that make foolish choices as teens, but most of the time when they are older (especially as parents) they do not brag about the details of what they did.  They may say, “I made some crazy decisions as a teen, but I’m not proud of what I did.”  They are praying their children to do not make the same unhealthy choices.

So how does this example influence the teens of America today? Parents, do you talk to your teens about values, morals and responsibility for actions? President Obama has made the statement that America is no longer a Christian nation.  I understand why he may say that because of own personal life actions.

I know many do not believe that we have absolute truths that we must live by. But the truth is there is a God and He does have absolute truths that we must adhere to.  If not, we will suffer the consequences.  His truth says there is a broad way that leads to destruction and many go down that path.  His truth also says there is a narrow way that leads to life and few will find it.

When God created man, He breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul. Every human has a soul that will live forever. Our actions in this life will predict where we will spend eternity.  When this life is over, we will meet our Creator and there will be a judgment for good and evil.  That is an absolute truth.  It does not depend on whether you believe it or not.

It would be wonderful if our President were someone that we would want our children to follow his example from childhood, but it is not so even though he says he is a Christian. Apostle Paul wrote to the Christian believers, “Follow me as I follow Christ.”   Our President along with every human that ever lived will bow before God in the future and confess that He is Lord.

I pray parents today will be wise enough to not use our current President as a role model for their children. The children of today will be the rulers of our world tomorrow. They must be taught morals, values and responsibility from birth.
