City offers walking tours of historic Cranford neighborhood

GREELEY – The Greeley Historic Preservation Commission invites the public to a walking tour of the Highlights of Designated Properties in Cranford on Monday, July 9, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.  Participants will visit some of the properties within the Cranford neighborhood that are designated on the Greeley Historic Register and learn more about their history, architecture and why they are designated.  The tour will begin at the southeast corner of 16th Street and 10th Avenue and continue through the neighborhood.  Call 350.9222 to check accessibility.  The event is free and open to the public.

 

The walking tours provide citizens with a chance to hear about and see interesting sites with historical and cultural significance to Greeley.  The remaining walking tour schedule for 2012 is as follows:

 

July 9               Highlights of Designated Properties in Cranford. Starting location: SE corner of 16th Street and 10th Avenue, 7:00 p.m.

 

August 6         Early Greeley Planning in the Meeker Home Area.  Starting location: Meeker Home Museum, 1324 9th Avenue, 6:30 p.m.

 

September 17  10th Street Corridor. Starting location: Wilshire Shopping Center parking lot, SW corner of 10th Street and 28th Avenue, 5:30 p.m.
