Ft. Collins solicitation rules appear to be working

The solicitor knocking at the door of your Fort Collins home could represent a local dairy or youth sports team. Or it could be someone traveling the country under bizarre, shady circumstances.

A year after the city lifted its ban on door-to-door salespeople, 43 companies have obtained permits. The change has created opportunity for legitimate businesses that play by the rules and it’s created regulations for those that don’t.

The city revoked its first permit Friday, after residents complained about a traveling sales crew from Jonesboro, Ga. Its manager had been arrested on assault charges.
