Why do evil things happen?

by Carol Clemans —

This is an age-old question: “Why do evil things happen?” The answer is in the Bible. I know some do not believe in God or His Bible truth, but that does not eliminate God’s truth. God is absolute truth. The demons believe there is one God and they tremble (James 2:19).

God created the earth by the power of His Word. He created Adam out of the dust of the earth. God created Eve out of Adam’s rib. He placed Adam and Eve in a wonderful garden that we cannot imagine. They had everything they could desire to live in beauty and peace. God gave them one rule – do not eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. They disobeyed this one rule by the influence of Satan. This choice of disobedience brought sin, sickness, death and evil and every destructive thing that we deal with on this earth.

The opportunity of ‘choice’ has never been taken from the human race. Today God still gives every human choice.  The evil shootings that took place in Aurora, Colorado on July 20, 2012, happened because there was evil in the heart of the shooter. Even though we do not want to accept it, the Bible tells us that because Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, sin entered into the hearts of the human race. Their choice broke their relationship with God. We are all descendants of Adam.

Satan is the god of this age (2 Cor. 4:4). Either we are believers in God or we are ruled by the god of this age.  People choose how evil they want to be. God threw Satan out of heaven because of his selfishness.  The devil wanted to be worshipped by the angels as God. That same selfishness is in the heart of every human. Selfishness is part of the sin nature. It’s at the foundation of all evil.

God desires that everyone would come to repentance and accept our need of salvation. This is why He came to earth in the form of a baby as the Lord Jesus Christ and was willing to lay his life down on the cross to pay the price for our salvation. When we reject God, then we are open to the power of Satan to use us for evil. The Bible tells us that Satan entered into the heart of Judas to use him to betray Jesus (Luke 22:3).

The Bible teaches that in the last days evil will wax worse and worse. As we see horrible crimes of death happen in America and around the world even by leaders of countries, we know the devil is working in the hearts of evil people.  God gives all men/women choice.  If we choose to serve the god of this world – Satan, we are going down the broad way that leads to destruction – many are on this broad way. If we choose to serve the Almighty God with the few, we are going down the narrow way that leads to life (eternal life with God).

The world needs God.  The Bible says God has placed eternity in the heart of man (Ecclesiastes 3:11). This does not mean salvation. It means in every heart there is a sensitivity/drawing to God. Every tribe of people discovered down through the ages, all have had something that they worshipped even if they never heard about the true God.

So, why do evil things happen? Why do people die? It’s because Satan is the god of this world. He influenced Adam and Eve to sin against God. When they did, they immediately knew good and evil. Evil men/women can choose to harm other people. We can die from the choice of someone else. Or, we die with disease because our bodies are starting to decay from the time of birth.  God is not to blame. The blame is on the influence of Satan.

God came in the flesh to bring redemption to the human race.  He still gives all of us choice.  God is love. He proved His love for us by dying on a cross to redeem us to Himself. There is a God whether we believe or not. All of us will stand before Him and be accountable for our every action.  God is full of grace and mercy and He is a God of judgment too. All will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ or the Great White Throne Judgment.

God is saying, “Come unto me. My yoke is easy and my burden is light – you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-30) We pray God surrounds all the family and friends of those who were killed, plus all the injured with His comfort and peace.

Google First Scandal. When you get there, go to the top of the page and click on “Can you explain…”

This question should also be put to the govt. Our servants have not been doing their job for all American people.
To find out why evil happens, you have to go beyond listening to mainstream media, dig down to the bottom of the pit and that is where the truth is hidden.
What has made us so passive and accepting of the govt trying to give us a spankin’ daily? Why don’t we speak up more and tell those destroying this country we won’t allow it to continue for their greedy profits? Why haven’t more bankers and lenders been sentenced for their crimes?
What made some of us vote for evil warmongering men/women to represent us? Why so afraid? If we could just stay out of other countries business and let their people fix their own, we might have a chance at making this the greatest place to live with freedoms and rights for all. No more special interest groups get to cut in line. No more lobbying. No more anything unless the people get to vote on where they want their hard earned dollars to go. No more wars! Peace!
