Hunting for details of a campaign appearance?

by Craig Masters

It is being reported that the President will make another college/high school campaign stop here in Colorado next Tuesday. According to the reports in local media, Obama will be at Colorado State August 28. I wanted to confirm location and time about this information for readers of the Northern Colorado Gazette. You are encouraged to follow the process.

Enter the search words, “obama campaign schedule” and select the first result that is not an advertisement. You will find a website filled with comments. But instead of finding a schedule – such as the August 28, appearance at Colorado State University now being reported – the page has a campaign photo and comments. That opening page contains no schedule, no information, and no position statements.

If you select to click on the “about” tab you will find an almost empty page that redirects you to the “official Google+ page of Obama for America, President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign. ” Once redirected to the new website you can search for events by date or milage from your zip code. However, in multiple attempts to search by both criteria the site stops responding shortly after it begins to update.

To try a White House link to confirm the CSU date, in the Google+ search bar type “White House” and you will be connected to another site of comments, photos, and links to other sites selling books, pictures of the White House and just about everything related to everything pesidential. But no schedule of Obama campaign appearances.

Is the lesson here that you will have to go to the campaign appearance to find out when it is? Isn’t that just like the health care bill Congress was supposed to enact and then find out what it contained?

To be fair and balanced I typed in the search words ‘romney campaign schedule’ to determine if the Romney/Ryan site(s) had as much trouble with their schedule information as Obama/Biden. Scrolling down the opening page you will find an actual calendar with events listed.
