Taking Obama worship to a new level, a calendar for sale outside of the Democratic National Convention suggests that God so loved the world that he sent us Barack Obama.
Slate.com reported how “the cult of Obama staggers on” noting that among the merchandise being offered for sale is a calendar by James Hickman titled “Keep the Dream.”
While many of the monthly photos feature Obama, the August 2013 page is drawing eyebrows.
The picture shows a picture of Obama’s Certification of Live Birth, which some experts, including an investigation by Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to be a forgery.
Underneath the document are the words “Heaven Sent,” followed by John 3:16, one of the most well-known bible verses which says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The verse, along with Obama’s supposed birth certificate appear designed to suggest that God’s only begotten Son is not a reference to Jesus Christ, but is instead a reference to President Obama.
While some would argue that the calendar is the work of a private individual and has no ties to the DNC, Pastor Steven Grant with Destiny Christian Center in Greeley said that is a weak argument.
“The DNC has a perfect right to control what venders are allowed to sell in and around their convention hall. They could stop the sale of this if they wanted,” he said. “The fact that they haven’t and they haven’t come out and condemned it as being offensive to Christians suggests they agree with the message.”
He went on to say while both the left and the right have individuals who make offensive and outrageous statements, it is the responsibility of a leader to attempt to control these types of statements and make it clear they do not support it.
“If Obama cannot control people in his own party who want to compare him to Jesus Christ, then how can he be expected to lead the country?”
“God will not hold a person responsible for what others say about him, even if they compare him to the Messiah, but a person is accountable for how they respond to it,” Grant continued. “Obama claims to be a Christian, but his actions over these types of incidents are anything but Christian. When people wanted to worship Peter, Paul and Silas all of them publicly rebuked those individuals telling them not to worship them.”
“In Acts 12, God killed a ruler for not rebuking his followers after they claimed he was a god and not a man. Obama should come out and publicly declare to his followers to stop comparing him to Jesus. That he has not done so is very telling and shows how narcissistic this president is.”
In addition to the calendar comparing Obama to Jesus, there have been other instances of Obama followers comparing the president to Jesus.
During the campaign, many supporters declared Obama to be the Messiah, with one Obama supporter even staging a re-enactment of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday featuring a replica of Obama riding on the donkey.
Obama even went so far as to proclaim, “We are the ones we have been waiting for.”
