Verizon Wireless customers now have a bit of good news with the announcement that Greeley will have the new 4G LTE service in the coming weeks.
Erica O’Connor, a spokesperson for Verizon Wireless said that Greeley should expect to see the new 4G service in the next several weeks.
The coverage will extend north to Weld County Road 64, south to 49th Street, east to Weld County Road 45, and west to 83rd avenue. In addition to Greeley, Verizon will also launch 4G LTE in Aspen, Longmont and Pueblo.
The company has been touting its new network which provides Internet connection speeds up to ten times faster than the current 3G network. The faster speeds are becoming more critical as more and more people are using their cell phones to stream video from services such as Netflix.
The company has invested over $70 billion in its network since the company was first formed in 2000. Verizon Wireless currently has over 92.4 million customers and by the end of this year the company’s 4G network is expected to be available to over 260 million people across the country.
O’ Connor mentioned that Verizon wireless has invested a millions of dollars to expand and maintain their network in Colorado.
“Since 2000 Verizon Wireless has spent over $1.16 billion in Colorado alone and last year the company spent nearly $160 million in the state.”
