The nation’s largest newspapers have refused to run an ad for a documentary that makes allegations that if true would torpedo claims that Barack Obama is not constitutionally qualified for the office.

 

The documentary, “Dreams from My Real Father: A Story of Reds and Deception” is produced by filmmaker Joel Gilbert and is available on DVD.

 

Multiple discrepancies have surrounded the narrative surrounding Barack Obama’s upbringing with biographies favorable to the president frequently disagreeing with key events in his life.

 

Gilbert’s film offers a divergent theory regarding the events that may have formed the president’s life and politics.

 

The documentary posits the theory that Obama’s father is not Barack Obama Sr. but rather Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Communist Party USA.

 

Based on two years of research, interviews and newly unearthed footage of both Davis and Obama the film attempts to fill in the gaps in the president’s upbringing.

 

Gilbert told WND that the president had some compelling reasons to hide Davis’ identity as his father.

 

“Barack Obama sold himself to America as the multi-cultural ideal, a man who stood above politics,” Gilbert explained. “His father was a goat-herder from Kenya, so Barack Obama would bring people together, so the story went.

“However, as I show in the documentary, the truth is Barack Obama has a deeply disturbing family background, including a father who was a propagandist for the Communist Party USA – a fact Obama has intentionally hidden in order to obscure his Marxist political foundations.”

 

If true, the issue could provide a problem for Obama as he tries to explain why he misled the American people as to his real background, it could actually help in another area by resolving the questions of the president’s eligibility.

 

Questions over the president’s eligibility to hold the office which states that a person be not just a citizen but a “natural born citizen” have dogged the president since the 2008 campaign.

 

Issues run the gamut from newspaper accounts providing two different hospitals for his birth, to biographical sketches that indicate to Obama being Kenyan born. Multiple African newspapers have also stated he was born in Kenya. There is also the issue of the president having a Connecticut Social Security Number despite never living in the state.

 

While the Constitution does not define the term “natural born citizen” there are some constitutional experts who have said the term is a reference to a child born of two citizen parents. This argument is supported by a U.S. Supreme Court decision from 1875, Minor v. Happersett.

 

 

 

In the ruling, which is one of the few cases addressing the issue of “natural born citizen” as opposed to a naturalized citizen, it states.

 

 

 

“The Constitution does not in words say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”

 

 

Based on this standard Obama’s birth certificate proves he is not eligible as his father was a non-citizen from Kenya.

 

 

However, if Davis is in fact the father of Obama then all of the issues surrounding his eligibility are moot. While Davis may have been a communist, there is no question that he was an American citizen.

 

Interestingly, despite Gilbert’s documentary establishing that Obama is constitutionally eligible for the office, several mainstream media outlets have refused to run an ad for his film.

 

 

Gilbert attempted to run full page ads in the New York Times, the Washington Post and USA Today all of which have derided the “birther” movement. However, all three newspapers refused to run the advertisement. The New York Times said, “The ad isn’t for us.”

 

The New York Post agreed to run the ad which ran Tuesday and will run again on Sunday.

 

While the Washington Post and USA Today refused Gilbert’s ads, they published a full page ad by porn king Larry Flynt where he offers to give $1 million to any person who could dig up dirt on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
