I have real concerns for our country, state, and the politics that affect us all. Loyalty to political parties trumps the message of the candidate and what they stand for in this day and age of media sound bites. I am a proud independent unaffiliated registered voter and as such can support members of both parties, judging what the candidate really stands for by their actions as well as in their words. In national races I have my own views and also rely on the media to help determine my vote, but at the local level, I personally know a candidate that I can truly support. That candidate is Skip Carlson for house district 50. His story of seeing the world from the viewpoint of wealth and poverty gives him a unique view of the struggles and opportunities we all face as constituents of his house district. He has been an educator who is still concerned for our youth. He is a business man, a voice for those les fortunate in many public forums and someone who will stand for our district rather than just follow the party line. This is just my opinion but if you have an opportunity to speak to Skip, I think you’ll agree with me. It’s time we vote fro the man and not just the party.
