Speaking at a campaign rally, Vice-President Joe Biden claimed Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, is prohibited by law from doing abortions.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Wisconsin, Biden was speaking on recent statements by Mitt Romney that he would defund Planned Parenthood.
“Now these guys pledge that they’re going to defund Planned Parenthood, which ,under law, cannot perform any abortions,” Biden said.
However, the reality is the abortion giant, which was founded by eugenicist, Margaret Sanger, is actually the nation’s largest abortion provider; performing over 300,000 abortion annually. Additionally Planned Parenthood plainly says on their website that they do in fact perform abortions.
“Abortions are available at many Planned Parenthood health centers, clinics,” their website states.
The white House has attempted to explain away Biden’s comments saying that what he meant to say was that Planned Parenthood is only prohibited from using federal funds to perform abortions. However, that explanation contradicts a key statement Biden said during last week’s vice-presidential debate.
During the debate, Republican candidate Paul Ryan was responding to comments by Biden about Romney believing 47 percent of Americans are moochers, a reference to a quote made by Romney at an event where he mentioned 47 percent of Americans do not pay any income taxes.
Ryan said, “With respect to that quote, I think the vice president very well knows that sometimes the words don’t come out of your mouth the right way.”
Biden then responded that whatever he has said in the past were not gaffes but were exactly what he believed. “But I always say what I mean.”
Based on Biden’s own words, he apparently meant exactly what he said, that Planned Parenthood is prohibited by law from performing abortions.
The statement may have been intended to portray the eugenicist founded organization as being solely concerned about women’s health issues.
The abortion giant has recently spent over $3.5 million on an ad buy to attack Mitt Romney over his plan to cut funding for the organization. The ads claim women are in danger of not receiving breast cancer screening if they were to lose their federal funding. However, it was revealed earlier this year that not a single Planned Parenthood clinic provides mammograms.
Planned Parenthood spends millions of dollars annually on political campaigns to support abortion on demand for any reason, including killing a child solely on the basis of its sex.
A pair of undercover videos in Arizona revealed Planned Parenthood employees at two different clinics agreeing to help perform an abortion on a woman simply because the child was a girl.
Planned Parenthood defended the events in the video saying that while they are personally opposed to gender based abortions, “no Planned Parenthood clinic will deny a woman an abortion based on her reasons for wanting one.”
