Leo Katoria “Blondie” Wardman

Leo Katoria “Blondie” Wardman, 90, of Carr, CO passed away April 19, 2010 at Bonell Good Samaritan Community in Greeley, CO.

She was born on December 18, 1919 in Nunn, CO to LaVote and Roxie (Eastlack) Lemonds.

She began her life long journey after graduation working in Evergreen, CO as a Soda Jerk for one year. In 1938 she became an employee of the Rockport Inn and remained there for 72 years. In 1945 Leo married Floyd Wardman and they began a life together to serve the community from a gas station, café and tavern. After Floyd’s passing in 1987 she became a legend in her time from potato salad and cheese burgers to the top sales person for the Colorado Lottery for several years. She retired in 2002 at the age of 82. Leo was a member of the Carr Community Church and the Moose Lodge in Cheyenne. She remained very active until the last year when she became a victim of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Leo is survived by special friends, Michael Pearson, Anita Adolf, Eva Puhl, Rod Runnells, and Kathy Van Duyn; nieces, Mona Klingenburg and Diana Ayers of Nunn, Helen McWilliams of Grand Junction, CO, Pamela Heschke of Cheyenne, WY; great nephews, Jacob and Joshua Heschke of Cheyenne, great nieces, Jennifer Mendenhall of Grand Junction, Janelle Swisher of Delta, CO; great-great nephew, Jacob Swisher and great-great niece, Codi Mendenhall.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nunn Community Center followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Nunn.
