Don E. Figgs

Don E. Figgs went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2010, at Life Care Center of Greeley. He was born on April 2, 1928 in Valley Falls, Kansas, to John and Jane Figgs.

He graduated from Valley Falls High School and attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, after serving his country for 3 years in the Army. One year of his service was in Korea. In 1952 he married Mary L. Eschmann in Topeka, Kansas. They resided in Dallas, Texas, returned to Topeka and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1973. In 2000 he and Mary moved to Greeley to be closer to family. Don was a member of Calvary Chapel of Greeley and a member of Pipefitters Local Union No. 58 in Colorado Springs.

Don was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved the time spent with his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and took great delight in all their achievements. He enjoyed working with his hands, animals, collecting rocks, and could often be found watching thunderstorms or shooting stars on summer evenings. He was a great sports fan. He participated in a number of athletics in his youth and was always watching his favorite teams.

Don is survived by his wife Mary of 58 years; his children, son Daniel Figgs of Colorado Springs, daughter Jean Davis and her husband Bob of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, son Jeff Figgs and his wife Susan of Greeley, son John Figgs and his wife Rebecca of Greeley; two brothers, Jack Figgs and Tim Figgs, and a sister Johann Forrest; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan Dale and three brothers, Robert, George and John.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday May 4, 2010, at Calvary Chapel Greeley, 2602 27^th St., Greeley, Colorado 80634. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to “Calvary Chapel Greeley” in care of Adamson Funeral Services, 2000 47^th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80634.
