Thunder, rain and tornado warnings are happening as I’m writing. The 4th of July is ending with its’ own ‘bang’ of storms this evening in the Greeley/Loveland, Colorado area. This storm may have ‘washed out’ fireworks displays, but it has not washed away my thankfulness for America.
The space for this article is too short to go into the history of how this great country was established. Hundreds of thousands of people have willingly given their lives and have been seriously wounded so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. We are in wars right now to protect our freedoms and those of others. Many people celebrate this day with bittersweet emotions because their son, daughter, husband, wife, father or mother have given their blood for our freedom even in this modern day. Their loved one’s life was snuffed out in one moment of war to give us the privilege to live in a country with freedoms.
Our forefathers founded this country on Godly principles. That fact is being disputed today in the politics of our great country. Our freedoms are being challenged on every hand. We must be students of our land’s history and implant in our children the morals and values that have been the core strength of America. We must speak out with loud voices and not allow our government leaders to become dictators. Our taxpayer dollars fund their salaries. They are to govern for us, not against us.
No matter what the President says, this nation is still predominately a Christian nation. The majority of people in America believe there is a God. We need to be praying to God daily for mercy on America. Let’s do all we can with our voices and our votes to retain the rights and freedoms we have that have been given to us by God!
