Clarence Achziger, 87, of Eaton died on September 22, 2010 in the company of his family and in the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado.
Clarence was born in Eaton on May 23, 1923 to John and Marie (Teal) Achziger. He grew up working on the family farm while attending Buell Country School and Eaton High School.
He was confirmed at St. Paul’s Congregational Church in Greeley before becoming a member of the Eaton/Ault Congregational Church.
Upon graduation in 1942, he began a career of farming in the Eaton/Ault area, retiring in 2005.
He was involved in his community, participating in the Elks Club, Lions Club, Potato Growers , Onion Growers and the Eaton Country Club. He was a family man who especially loved hunting and fishing.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, six sisters and twin sons.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, sons Lynn and wife Kathy of Eaton, Lyle and wife Mary of Evans, Loren and wife Pat of Arizona, Michael Ashman and wife Tracy of Philadelphia, PA, Martin Ashman and wife Renee of Prescott Valley, AZ, brother Harvey Achziger and sister Ester Baur-Orr, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the First Congregational Church of Eaton/Ault from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m.
