March 21, 1918 ~ January 22, 2011
Joseph “Joe” Allo, Jr. died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Kenton Manor. He was born March 21, 1918 in Dayton, Ohio to Joseph Allo Sr. and Francis Vitrano who were born in Rome Italy.
Joe attended a Catholic school in Dayton Ohio until the 8th grade. Joe had lived with his Uncle Matthew and Aunt Mary from the age of 7, following an accident in which his family was killed. Joe was not happy living there so at the age of 17, he enlisted in the CC Camp and went to Pocatello, Idaho. When he got out of the CC Camp, there were no jobs to be found and he still wasn’t happy with himself, so he enlisted in the Army. He had to change his name and now he was Thomas Allo. The only person who knew his true identity was the Doctor, and he told Joe to be good and no one would know.
When Joe got out of the service he lived in Denver and he loved it. Colorado felt good to him, so he claimed this to be his home. He loved the land for hunting small game and fishing.
Joe worked for a fruit peddler for $1 a day, then he got on at Swift as a hostler.
Joe married Martha James. They were married 3 to 4 years and she passed away. They had no children.
He met Leona and she had 8 children, they lived together and he helped raise her children to adulthood. He has not heard from Jeannie, Elizabeth, Tootsie, Carol, Leonard, Charlett, Bill or Brenda in years.
Joe leaves behind true friends and neighbors that looked in on him. He wants to thank Margo Preciado for taking care of him for the last 15 years with doctor’s appointments, groceries, laundry and many other little things, but mostly prayers, before this was Lois Millsap’s family and he wished a special thank you to Mike Fenton. Also a very special thank you to Lois Millsap.
Survived by his nieces, Vicki Kremer and Gloria Graziano of Ohio, and nephews Tony Graziano and Bob Graziano of California and Greg Graziano of Louisiana. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph Sr. and Francis, his sisters Grace and Rose and brothers Vincent and Bernard.
