Parents Lining up for West Ridge Open Enrollment

By Mike Bauman

As early as 8:45 on Thursday April 14, parents were lining up to enroll children  into West Ridge Academy.  At that time, there were approximately a dozen cars with waiting parents sitting in them in the parking lot of Grace Church, which is adjacent to the future sight of West Ridge.

Mountain View Academy officials would not allow enrolling West Ridge parents to get in line until after school gets out on Thursday.  The school will not open its doors to enrolling parents until 9 am  Friday.

Mountain View had originally planned the enrollment for Saturday so as not to disturb the operations of the school.  However, District 6 dictated the enrollment dates.

Parents were planning to spend the night in line to ensure that  children get into the new school; braving possible snow, 40-mile per hour wind gusts, and 15-degree wind chill.

West Ridge staff has hired around-the clock-security from the Greeley Police Department and installed two port-a-potties for people who are waiting in line.
