Stay informed when severe weather strikes

Press Reports

Spring and early summer are the most volatile times of the year for severe weather producing tornados and damaging hail and winds. Here are suggestions that can help you be prepared and informed.

Most of us  rely on the media and the weather alerts that come from radio and television. This is a good source and should be monitored regularly when there are conditions that warrant our attention. Other excellent sources are the Weather Alert Radioes that broadcast information 24/7 and the All Hazards Radios that send information on all pending hazardous situations. These can be purchased at a nominal price and are battery operated.

The Emergency Notification Service will send notifications to your cell phone, pager, e-mail, VOIP number and other devices. This service is called “Intrado” and it is easy to “opt-in” by simply going on the City of Greeley Website at www.greeleygov.com and click on the Emergency Notification Opt-in Registration subject line. Follow the instructions and provide the information asked for. Once registerd, you will receive emergency notifications when any emergency alert has been activated in the area where you live. This service does not provide weather watches or warnings but will give you information in the event of a designated emergency. If you have a cell phone registered it will notify you of the emergency even if you are not in the area you designated. The information you provide is held secure in the database and is not released or sold to any third party.

This service is just one more way for you to be prepared and informed about the quickly changing weather conditions that may become dangerous.
